Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of comparative adjectives in the context of people and objects

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of adjectives

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I show the students some pictures and describe the pictures with the adjectives they already know.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this part, I want my students to describe themselves with two adjectives.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage, I will use the adjectives that the students said, and write them on the board in different sentences and then compare them.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To clarify the "comparative adjectives" I'll show my students the formula and place different adjectives in different sentences. I talk about "-er and more/less" and equality in both positive and negative sentences. Then I ask them CCQs like (Which animal is faster? Which building is taller? Is rabbit A faster than rabbit B? etc.)

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise 5A part a and b individually in 3 minutes, then we're going to check the answers in class.
