Description

In this lesson, students will learn and practice prepositions of place. The lesson start through a jigsaw-like activity in which ss relate the pictures with the prepositions. Then, they will do controlled practice in writing and listening.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

What's up everyone! Checking the attendance list and asking students what they have got in their backpacks.

Exposure (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Relating the pictures with the prepositions.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Writing down the prepositions on the board.

Clarification (10-13 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Powerpoint presentation for getting further information on the subject.

Controlled Practice (1-3 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Introducing the vocabulary in order to follow the listening exercise in which a girl describes the room of a pirate.

Free Practice (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Let's describe your room by using in,on,next to,between, behind, under, in front of. Students will describe their room to each other and the teacher will monitor them.

Extra Time Activity (2-3 minutes) • engage the students if there's any extra time
