Procedure (34-48 minutes)
Before starting listening parts, I am going to prepare the students for the lesson.So I am going to ask them a few questions like ' where are you from? ' - I am from Turkey and What is your nationality? - I am Turkish. To make awareness of the diffirence between a nationality and a country.I am going to write a few countries on the white board and want them to write their nationalities.
I will give the instruction about the listening part clearly. I am going to want them to listen carefully and underline the nationalities. After listening, I want them to answer it altogether. After listening part, I am going to do the vocabulary part. It is relevant to listening part. I am going to draw the table one the white board and want them to complete the table. Suffix Nationality Words -an American Mexican _______ _______ -ese Japanese _______ -ish Turkish ________ Other French Czech _______ ________
Pre-listening; I am going to want them to match the countries with the cities. To attract them, I am going to show pictures of the cities. After that, ı want them to show the cities on the map on page 19. We have 2 listening parts; The first one is for gist and the other one is for detail. I want them to listen to three short conversation and want them to match the conversations to a place below. * at a hotel * at an airport * at a party We are going to listen to the same conversations but this time is for detail. After that I want them to circle the correct options
I will give them a hand out that is taken from their workbook. I want them to work in pairs to complete the nationalities. With this exercise, I will do more practice about vocabulary.
I wil correct the mistakes that students have done during the activities as quick as possible
I will give them hand out. They are going to select one country. I will let them work in pairs. I want them to ask eachother 2 questions ' where are yıu from? and what is your nationality? ' They are going to answer these questions according to the country that they have selected.
