Description

In this lesson, students are going to learn to mention about how they or people around them spend their time during a day.Comparing their lives with other people all around the world will help students to get to know their lives better. Beside this, Present Simple and Continuous tenses will be reviewed on the text that we are going to work on. They will help the students to speak more fluently and efficiently. The more students feel comfortable with the topic, the more they get attention on it.

Main Aims

  • To practice reading for specific information and details related to how people around the world spend their time.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To discuss trends within ss' own country related to how people spend their time. To introduce different ways of quantifying things in the context of a sociological study.

Procedure

Stage-1 ( Countries and Life Styles) (5-10 minutes) • To analyse more clearly how we spend our time.

- Pass out HO to SS' to see points clearly that will be focused on - Discuss the statements whether they think they are true or false for their country - Groups check each others answers by talking - Teacher collects FB by asking different groups to tell some of their answers

Stage-2 ( Read a text) (5-10 minutes) • To look for which countries the statements refer to

- Deliver HO which is a reading text to SS - Read quickly and point out countries - Teacher does first example as an example for the students - Start a competition - The one who finds the answer the first wins.

Stage-3 ( Reformed Discussion ) (10-15 minutes) • To see the differences/ similarities points in a clear way

- Give out the handout which includes some numbers related to the text they read and make SS in pairs - Let students to see correct answers by giving them answer key -Ask SS to discuss how things are the same or different in their country compared to the countries in the text they found - Teacher gets FBs from the students in a speaking practice.

Stage-4 ( Speaking and Writing) (5-7 minutes) • To share the ideas about how you would like to spend more/less time doing

- Teacher writes the questions on the board - Teacher gives some examples of your own first - Ask SS discuss in pairs about them - Write the answers first, start to share them then
