Description

In this lesson students will be presented with pictures and they will be predicting the vocabulary related to that picture, They will answer some questions about each picture, then they will match the daily routine activity with the right time and vocabulary in pairs, they will be drilled for pronunciation of the new words. The students will get ready to go through the reading by getting to know the vocabulary and discussing about the pictures.They will the read for a gist and afterwards for specific information and they will complete an exercise accordingly.

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about daily routine in the context of actor

Procedure

Lead-in and vocabulary introduction (10 minutes) • To check the understanding of the terms

first ask which one of you work in the morning? which one of you went to work or university today? we are going to talk about "Daily routines" today *write on wb*, drill, now whats this? hold up the first picture; elicit. drill. student write the vocab on wb write? what time do you get up? ask these question from you partner

control practice and review (if there was time) (0-3 minutes) • to make sure they are completely familiar with the vocabulary and time

give them the hand-out they fill it in and then check it from the board instructions: we are going to look at the pictures with the words and match the times of the day which we have in this box with the pictures/ phrases and feel the blank boxes.

pre-read (8-10 minutes) • get the students interested in the reading and clear up the new vocab

hand in the pics look at these pictures, what do you see? what do you think about this man? what does he do? what is his job? write on board: Camera, Studio, Cameraman *drill Now do you think an actor's life is exciting? elicit Glamorous, Typical, expensive (drill and write on board) drill*

Pre-read (4 minutes) • discussion and prediction

Now in pairs, discuss what an actor's daily routine is like? ( for e.g what time Kerem Bursin wakes up in the morning? what does he do next? ) discuss this in pairs for 2 minutes monitor FB: 1 minute

read for a gist (6-8 minutes) • scan read and for a gist

Now read the text and check if your ideas were correct. (do not unfold the papers now please)check with your partner for 5 minutes monitor FB

read for specific info (10 minutes) • read more closely and for specific info

Now unfold the papers and read the interview again, are these sentences T/F? correct the false sentences there is space here to write the right one. work on them on your own for 5 minutes. check your answers with your partners for 2 minutes hand-in the key answers monitor and FB

review and general FB (6 minutes) • work on their fluency and check understanding

Now are you surprised about actor's life? Is it exciting? Do you want to have an actor's life? why? Do you think it's hard to be an actor?
