Description

This lesson will serve as a Teacher Practice for the CELTA certification program. The primary focus of the lesson is to teach grammar. Using provided material by the course instructor.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To present and practice can/can´t and could/couldn´t

Subsidiary Aims

  • To Introduce the concept of “can” and “can’t” using real-life examples
  • Explain the difference between “can” (present) and “could” (past) in terms of present and past possibilities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

See what students can remember about each other´s m first tv.

Exposure/Presentation through the text (7-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Give Ss gist task for the text; chose the subheading activity : 3 options per paragraph (google form) Students read individually, submit before OCFB

Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To cover meaning, Form, & Pronunciation, Exercises 4a, 4b, 4c & 5a (meaning on page 141 Grammar 6.3)

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Exercise 7a - Google form or wordwall. Students do the exercise individually and compare answers in pairs before OCFB

Free Practice (8-9 minutes) • To check ss understanding of the lesson

Teacher will write a model sentence in a google slide then students will write 4 sentences: one with can one with can´t one with could one with couldn´t Adapted Exercise 8 page 51 After, teacher conduct Open class Feed Back
