To introduce and practice word building: prefixes in the context of the Digital Era.

Provide reading practice while learning new vocabulary and speking practice using the information reviewed
Procedure (33-39 minutes)
Display a picture using google presentations with different situations related to digital era, ask SS to look a the image and tell me what are the positive and negative aspects of living in a digital era they can see and the ask if they know any other one https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1pDhN5KkzjagEiL5UDmH3FcdqsxEEcCxjfVsmJfG7xA0/edit?usp=sharing
Using the same presentation, show them a short sentence: My friend says it's possible to see a UFO near his house ….I don't think that is true, it's impossible! Ask them to tell me the difference between the two highlighted words ( possible/ impossible), once they have told me, tell them we can use some letters at the beggining of a word to modify the meaning of it, we call them prefixes. Afterwards, show them the text for this lesson and ask them to underline/ mark the prefixes in the words in bold. When they finish, ask them to say what are the prefixes in the words and check together.
Meaning While I display the text, SS have to answer and complete an exercise on jamboard to find the meaning of each prefix, once they finish, ask questions to check if they got the meaning of the words and how the prefix changed them. Pronunciation Using the previous presentation show them a picture with more words using the prefixes, read some of them and then ask them to do the same. Ask if they notice something the words have in common in their pronunciation and explain that prefixes are never stressed. SS will be shared a link to google forms with 7 sentences which they have to rewrite using the prefixes Once they have finished, show them the correct answers so they can compare them with theirs https://forms.gle/siyuEkimhzyr9Y5K8
Ask SS to choose some of the words (3-5) reviewed over the lesson and ask them to use them with some personal information, example; I am a non-smoker, my friend likes to smoke and I always tell her not to do because.... Use break out rooms to discuss their ideas, then come back and ask them to share them
