Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask students if they had done anything wrong in public places before and if the answer is yes, what happened next and were they punished because of that or not.

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will teach the students the key words of the text by using examples which are related to the warmer. The key words: law, improve, aerospace, reputation, urgently, delay, deliver, immediately, military

While-Reading/Listening #1 (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The Ss are going to answer the questions: Who was Murphy? What is his "Law"? They are given two minutes to skim the first two paragraphs and then check their answers with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-9 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The Ss are going to read the sentences in part c and then read the text deeper. After reading the text they will be asked to match that sentences to the reading's article. They will check their answers with the class.

Post-Reading/Listening (10-14 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ss will be told to talk about their experience with Murphy's Law and if things went wrong for them. Each student has 2 minutes to discuss.
