Description

First of all I am going to show them a picture and ask them to describe that picture, then I am going to play the audio file, they will check the places that she said about where she was during the day. and then they will listen again and complete the missing words. then I am going to ask them what do you think the noise is? they will listen and check. after all these I am going to show them a chart in this way we will see the differences between simple past and simple present and then the differences between simple past regular and irregular verbs: get, go, have, do

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Irregular verbs in the context of conversation

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Debate in the context of conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show them a picture of a dad and his daughter and ask them to describe that picture.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ask some Qs from my students about the text; why didn't she go to school that afternoon? where was her mom?

Highlighting (4-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Here I am going to play the audio file for the first time and after that, they will do part a in pair and then we are going to check the correct answers.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

They will listen to the audio file again and complete the missing words an I will ask them voluntarily.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I am going to show them a chart about simple past regular and irregular verbs, then I am going to show them a chart about simple present and simple past, after that I will ask them to do part 3a in pair and then we will check it together.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I am going to ask them to do part 3c on page 112 in pair, then we will check it together.
