Main Aims

To introduce and contrast past tense "simple past and used to" in the context of childhood.
Subsidiary Aims

To encourage students to discuss about childhood experiences.

Procedure (27-36 minutes)
- T greets Ss, introduces the topic. -T will show a picture related to the topic and will ask the student to tell what they see in the picture. - T asks Ss to answer two questions related to the topic. 1. Did you enjoy your childhood? 2. Do you have happy memories?
-T will ask SS to read the text. Before reading, T will show SS three questions to be answered after reading the text. 1. Who did you relate the most with? 2. In which tense was this text written?
-T will ask SS to drag and drop some sentences found in the text to the correct place. -Once SS finish T will show the answers and provide clarification on meaning. -T will ask some CCQs : Are the actions in the past? Do I _____ now? -T will ask SS to break down into smaller parts 2 sentences so they come up with the grammatical structure of both tenses. -T will ask some CCQs : Can the "used to" be separated? Can we use the verb in present? -T will review real quick the ED-ending pronunciation.
-T will ask SS to complete 8 sentences in which they have to write the past tense past simple or used to. -Once SS finish, they will work by pairs to compare their answers. -T will prodive correction. -If there's time T will provide more guided practice.
-T will ask SS to discuss with a partner a bad o a good habit they had in their chilhood that they do not have any longer. -T will ask SS to introduce their partners habit.
