Procedure (28-45 minutes)
First hello song: show me your hands, put them high! Now dazzle dazzle dazzle! Now point forward and say hello teacher hello teacher! Hello Hello Hello Students sit in a semi circle around teacher to hit their knees, clap their hands and chant Also tap shoulders and nose Wa da li a cha Wa da li a cha Do da li do
Students sit in a semi-circle. Sing the weather song: "What's the weather, what's the weather, what's the weather like today? Is it sunny, is it rainy, is it cloudy, or windy?" Use TPR and flashcards to introduce weather words (stormy, rainy, cloudy, sunny, windy).
Chant "Look outside" and use TPR to ask, "Is it stormy today?" etc. Have students respond with "No, it s not" or "Yes, it is." Save the actual weather flashcard for the end and have students fill in the blank: "Today is a rainy day" (with a clap).
