Procedure (61-80 minutes)
I will explain the difference between skimming and scanning followed by answering some questions in a worksheet to promote the students' understanding.
I will show students a picture and they are asked to analyse it.While describing the picture, students will recognise the main topic which is dreams. Then students will be asked to describe dreams .Students will be asked to justify using the adj "wild" to describe the word "dream" although "wild" has a strong and fierce connotation. Then they are asked to look at the picture in their books to guess what it is about.
Students will be asked to get the main idea of each paragraph separately and they will have only 5 minutes to do that. Then they will be asked to give a summary concentrating on the first and last sentences.Second,a peer student will be asked to comment on their summaries. Moreover,,I will introduce and explain any difficult words.
Students are asked to look for details using keywords after reading the questions following the reading text. Then we discuss and the answers together.I will promote their understanding of the difference between skimming and scanning. Moreover,I will explain any difficult vocabulary that hinders students' understanding.
This is the production stage .Thus, students will be asked to listen to the text to check their understanding and they will be asked to use some of the new vocabulary in a context of their own.
