Procedure (35-42 minutes)
The teacher "New York" writes on WB. Two people mime in front of the class. One of them is lost in New York and asks for the nearest hotel, the other gives directions. The students guess what the topic is.
The students will listen to a recording in which a woman at the hotel asks the receptionist where she can go shopping. The teacher asks: 1. Where is the woman? 2. Where does she want to go? One of the students will draw the directions on the projected picture on WB.
The students will watch a video and will answer the questions: 1. Where does Allie want to go? 2. How will she get there? Draw the directions on the map. Feedback: T checks the correct route drawn on the map.
The teacher gives the students "Asking for information" sheet. The students will listen to the audio and fill in the gaps. Feedback: Sts check their answers in pairs.
The teacher will give the students "asking for information exercise" sheet. The students will practice it orally in pairs. The teacher uses the "disappearing dialogue technique.
Two pictures of the same map will be projected on the WB. The students, in two groups, will go to the board to stick the correct direction phrase on the pictures. Each group will have a different color of the phrases. Feedback: T checks the correct matching as WC.
Students will work in pairs, each one will have a map different from the other. They will be a distance from each other, one will ask for a place, the other gives them the directions shouting, and they write the name of the place they are asking for on their map. They can make use of the phrases from the previous stage. Feedback: Each pair sits next to each other and check the answers.
