Procedure (38-46 minutes)
Show the pictures about previous reading text to the students. Ask what are they about. Tell that they are about the previous lesson. If they don't come up with the right answer tell that they are about the text that they have read about the Beatles.
Get the students into groups. "Look at the pictures. Find the sentences they are about in your texts. Underline them." Show the pictures one by one, and elicit the sentences. CCQ: Are these actions in the past or present (now)? In 2013 or 1969? (Write the numbers on the wall, the Ss might not be familiar with them.)
Tell students to turn down their texts. Show the pictures one by one again and ask them to produce the sentences. Reformulate if there are errors in the sentence. Drill the sentences. Elicit the sentences on the wall. Ask if they know any of the verbs. Elicit the formula on the board. Highlight the stress, pronuncation, and linking words, and wrong models for "-ed". Emphasize that was/were are irregular verbs (try to elicit first) and elicit other irregular verbs they know.
Distribute the students the gap filling activity. Tell them that they are going to fill in the sentences with the past form of the verb given. Demonstrate one example on the wall. They are going to work in pairs in 4 minutes and check the answers with an other pair in 3 minutes.
Show students a picture and tell it was your music band but you broke-up. Tell the story of your band. Dİstribute the template with the key words to the students. Divide the students into groups. They are the members of the music bands. They are going to write the story of their bands.
Write the common mistakes maken in the freer practice and elicit the mistakes and corrections.
