Materials
Main Aims
-

Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of buying items in a store.
Procedure (33-52 minutes)
- Elicit the meaning of each word and it's form. Then finally it's pronunciation. Then write the word on the board. I will also elicit what items can be found in each store. - CCQ's will be on my Language Analysis.
Instructions: Work alone, read each sentence, and fill the gap. Use the list of phrases at the bottom to help answer the questions. ICQ's: Will you work in a group or alone? Alone. Feedback: Get answers from students and write it on the board.
Instructions: Each of these items are things you can buy in the stores we talked about earlier. I will ask a question like “Which of these can you find at a butcher?” The person at the front of each row will race to the board and take which item is at a butcher. Then that person will go to the back of their line and the next person will go. Which ever team gets the most items wins! ICQ's: Do you grab the paper or touch the paper? Grab. Once you have raced to the board to you go to the back or front of the line? Back. Will you hurt each other? No!
Instructions: I need people to be different stores. Who wants to be a pharmacy etc….? Okay, everyone else is a shopper and you will get items from each store using this shopping list. Demo the interaction. ICQ's: Will you use words or complete sentences? Complete sentences. Will you get just one item from each store or many? Just one. Feedback: Ask students what they bought.
