Main Aims

  • Students will be able to reinforce their knowledge by reviewing vocabulary related to animals and prepositions.
  • Students will be able to understand and use simple language structures through storytelling.
  • Students knowledge will be reinforced by reviewing vocabulary related to animals and prepositions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Speaking Skill: Students will be able to use simple language structures such as "I see a (...)" and prepositions like "next to", "under", and etc in their sentences.
  • Listening Skill: Students will understand and follow the story.
  • Vocabulary: Students knowledge will be reinforced by reviewing vocabulary related to animals and prepositions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Greeting the students with " hello, How are you? " Then, play a hello song. 2- Assign a student as the teacher helper. 3- Roll call, taking attendance using a roll call song. 4- Checking students workbooks. 5- Quick review with the question what did we learn in the last session?

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Arouse Interest: Show the first page of the story where the boy asks, "Where is Lucy?". Use this to engage students by asking them, "Where do you think Lucy is?" Then show the pictures with Lucy removed (under the bed, under the couch, and in the bathtub) and let them guess. Activate Schemata : Review relevant vocabulary like bed, couch, bathtub and etc and the prepositions (under, in). Ask students to describe where is Lucy might be by using prepositions. Give Learners a Purpose: Explain that they will watch the video story to find out where Lucy is hiding.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Play the video story. (Let's watch and found out where is lucy) After watching, ask them "Where was Lucy?" And Talk about who guessed correctly and who guessed incorrectly.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Now read the story aloud with the help of puppet and show pictures . While reading the story Pause to ask questions : 1_ what do you see? 2 _ where is the (...)? 3_ Who is this? 4_ What is this? 5_ How many (...) do you see? 6_ What shapes do you see? 7_ What color is the (...)? 8_ Is the (...) Happy or sad? 9_ etc.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Roleplay: Hide Teddy somewhere in the classroom, such as under the table. Have the students look for it and use the language structures and prepositions by saying, "Where is Teady ?" , "I see a ( book , ... ) under the table." And "I see Teady on the shelf."
