Procedure (34-43 minutes)
The Ss listen to "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and fill in the blanks with the words they hear. T asks: Do you agree that this is true for the newer generation? Why/why not? (PW) (2 min) Ss give WC FB
T writes the answers to the questions on board: "WHen do people buy diamond rings?" (proposal) "Do you remember when diamond rings became a symbol of proposals in Turkey?" "Who usually goes and buys diamonds at the jewelry store? Men or Women?" men because they are buying presents to the woman they love
Ss read the text quickly and see whether their guesses were true. (1 min) Ss give FB
Ss underline the sentences: "Please underline the sentences that are about the past actions and do not happen now" Ss comes by the board and underline them.
T elicits the MFPA from the Ss: Teacher writes a sentence from the reading text and make the Ss fill the gap with used to T askes the Ss to find the relevant sentences with this form and give FB (PW 2 min)
Ss will do the controlled grammar task in pairs There will be Students-centred FB Volunteer students come by the WB and fill in the blanks
Ss do the speaking task using the target language in pairs. (3 min) Ss give WC FB
Ss are shown the poster of a diamond company and the opposing poster. Ss discuss whether they agree with the ideas. It will be a pyramid discussion. T monitors the Ss and delayed correction is made.
