In this lesson ,students review present perfect and learn about since and for and the usage of them and actually the usages of present perfect in all, the story of mine will be told and by highlighting some sentences of that the structure and whole TL will be taught ,finally some exercises will be done as a controlled practice and as a freer practice they are going to talk about some topic by using since and for to internalize this structure in their mind

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of Present perfect “since” “for” in the context of Life’s experiences, new events and results of past actions,new information and news

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I begin with a quick greeting and casual conversation and ask them have you done something interesting since last week ,? What activities have you done for a specific period of time in this month and continuing talking and focusing on TL

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I present a short story about my life and asking them when we use present perfect ?! and after eliciting them ,I am going to clarify that we use present perfect when we want to talk about recent past and its relationships with the present then i asked them about usages of that and therefore I will expand and explain more about the usages of that (experience,new information,results,news, unknown time)

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I write some example of the story that I told the students and want them to accompany me

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target languag

I am going to talk about some related examples which included since and for in them and were used in my story which are written on the board and asking them to help me in order of expanding the structure, specify the part of speech and sentence components . Therefore I am going to ask them some questions like :what is the difference between since and for?which one point the beginning of an action and which one show the period of time?then I am going to tell them ;Use the adverb since + a point of time in the past until present, for +a period of time,I am going to point the position of them in the sentences and explaining; We use( How long...?) to ask questions about the duration of an action or a state, e.g., How long have you been married? or how long have you been in Iran ? and asking some CCQs in order of more stabilization. Like : are the actions and states that happen in the past still true?

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do some exercises on page: 143 part 9B and we are going to check the answers together

Free practice (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask students to work in pairs to have a short conversation using present perfect with "since " and "for ". Each student have two minutes for telling how long they have been involving in an activity or how much time they have spent for something special in their life.like learning a new skill or learning English, living with their family or in a place,Education….
