I ask them who makes the shopping list and who goes shopping at their home,w hich super markets they go for shopping. After a few minutes of chatting, I give them the HOs of a shopping conversation between three people and ask them to underline all "any" "some " sentences. I stick some sample sentences from the text and elicit the kinds of the nouns they are used with and also the forms of the sentences in which they are used.
I give them the HOs and ask them to correct the quantifiers. Then they check the answers in pairs. I stick the sheets of answer key on different walls of the class. They go and check their answers. For the following activiity ,I divide the class in half( In each half there will be 4 groups) One half will make 'shops' and the other will be shoppers. I will write a list of all items on the board. The shoppers will choose 5 items from the list and make short shopping list. I'll give each student in other half a random selection of four or five of the pictures. The shoppers 'll go to one of the shops and ask Questions.(Have you got any eggs?...) I'll write some samples for them on the W/B. I the shop has the item, they give the picture to the shopper. The group who takes the most pictures won the game.
I use some CCQ to make sure that Ss are familiar with the meaning of TL. 1-There are some eggs in the refrigerator. 2-I haven't got any money 3-She has some flour, eggs and sugar. CCQs 1-Do we know how many eggs there are in the refrigerator? No. 2-Can I buy a coat for myself. No. 3- Can she make a cake? I show on the W/B how the sentences are structured. There are some eggs in the refrigerator. +some+countable plural noun She has some sugar and flour. +some+uncountable noun I haven't got any money. +any+uncountable noun I use backward drilling to practice the pronouncation. I may divide the class in two.One half may drill the question, the other may drill the answer. Have you got any money? Yes, we have got some money. Then I give Ss the HOs on which the rules of" any-some" are writen
I give them the HOs of Ex.9 which wants them to fill the blanks with the appropriate quantifiers. I want them to share the roles and do the exercise in pairs. Then they listen to the record playing and check their answers. I also will give each group the answer key they'll have the chance to have a double check.
In this activity Ss work in pairs. Each student in pair is given a picture of a photo. There are different furniture and food items in each picture.Through asking questions to each other they try to find out the food and the furniture in their partner's kitchen. At the end , I stick the enlarged copies of two pictures on the W/B. The Ss from each group, come to the board and write their sentences.
