To provide clarification of different places in the context of where you live and where you go on holidays
Procedure (44-56 minutes)
I will ask the Ss about the previous lesson. (breakfast of different countries-food).
- Pass HO with Ex.1(a), Have the Ss tick the words they know. Then, elicit some vocabulary words from this exercise, using pictures. - Elicit some vocabulary words using pictures./CCQ's -Model and drill the words. -Pass HO pg. 131 (V5.1) - In pairs, have them write about 4 things from (Ex. 1a) that are imp. to to where they live, and where they go on holiday. -Discuss in groups. / WC feedback.
-Ss look at the photos on WB (projector), Ask the Ss if they know where the places are. -Elicit which is a big city (Auckland, New Zealand), a small town (Kewsik, The Lake District in England), and a village (Eyeries, Ireland). -Drill village with the class. -Elicit what the three places have : Auckland: the sea, flats/ Keswick: a lake, mountain/Eyeries: a road, houses, a bar -
-Tell the Ss that they are going to listen to three conversations about the places in the photos. -Tell them to listen carefully and draw a line under the vocabulary words from ex.(1a) - Play the recording (R5.1),Ss listen and read. - Tell Ss that they have to match the three conversations A-C to the photos and to the things people talk about , Q.1-3 - Play the recording (R5.2) -They work in pairs, they look again at sentences 1-9 in 3a. (Are they about Auckland, Keswick, Eyeries)3 sentences each. -Ss listen again(R5.2), and check their answers.
-Write on WB, Which place would you like to visit: Auckland, Keswick, Eyeries, and why? - Compare answers, Which place is the most popular?(Ask Ss to raise their hands for each place to see which one is the most popular)
