Main Aims

  • Language Focus - Functional language in the context of complaints - My main aim is to get the students speaking TL

Subsidiary Aims

  • Listening for detail - I will see how well they can understand a text by listening and find and record details as they are listening

Procedure

Lead in (8-10 minutes) • Listening for details

I will hand out the exercises 1-4 on unit 9C (Hand Out 1) and play the audios again (already listened by Ss in the previous lesson) and get them on exercises 1-3

Speaking - Roleplay (20-22 minutes) • Using TL in Ss' own sentences

I will ask the Ss to read the 3 situations on Exercise 4 in pairs for 5 minutes and choose one for their roleplay exercise and I will get them to take turns to perform their chosen roleplay - I will be noting errors for delayed correction at the end and will also ask Ss to recall some of their complaints to make sure they are all in good English CCQs: What are you doing about the problem? Complaining Are you complaining to me? No Who are you complaining to? Partners

Semi Controlled Practice (12-15 minutes) • Speaking practice (Mingling)

I will give students the second hand out and give instructions - I will be briefly modelling this exercise and then get two volunteers to model too before starting the WC mingling. any errors in language heard by me will be corrected quickly at the end of the lesson as much as time allows... ICQs: Are we choosing our pictures secretly? Yes Are we telling each other which picture we have chosen? No
