Procedure (36-51 minutes)
Teacher will ask students if they came to school early today or not. Eliciting some answers, she'll introduce the topic.
Teacher will show a cartoon about some people doing different things. Ss will talk about the cartoon in pairs and try to make guesses in terms o2f time. T will elicit some ideas.
Ss will be given five sentences which they will match to the PowerPoint cartoon. Once they finish matching, they will their answers in pairs. T will elicit the correct answers and try to check meaning usin CQs.
Ss will listen to a talk about the concept of time in English. They will finish the sentence to summarise the main point of the talk. Students will check in pairs and whole class elicit.
Ss will match the two halves in pairs and then listen to check. If necessary, the teacher will pause the recording when checking. T will elicit verb + noun collocations, and ask the Ss if there are any similar expressions in their language.
Ss will focus on the diphthongs /aɪ/ and /eɪ/ . T will elicit the sounds first, then quickly drill the sounds from the CD, if necessary.
In pairs, students will try to predict which word has a different sound. They will listen to check and repeat the words after the recording. Then they will try to find some common spellings for /aɪ/ and /eɪ/
Students will choose the most important inventions from the list then rank them from 1 to 5. T will provide the Ss with some useful phrases to use in their conversation. T will monitor the Ss to give feedback.
T will give Ss a quiz about time-keeping and time-management. Students will compare their answers in groups of three. Then they add up their total.
