Second conditional

In this lesson students are going to learn about second conditional through PPP after this lesson students might better be able to use second conditional to talk about imaginary situations

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Second conditional in the context of Dream job and imagery situ

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversion in the context of Imaginary situation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will talk about my job and my salary and what would i do if i had va better job or if i got a raise

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage I will show two pictures to my students and ask the what do they think about the person in the picture and what is it that the person in the picture is thinking about and try to lead them into using second contitional

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I will write some of the sentences that my students have made on the board in the correct form to draw their attention to the TL

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning of second condition (imagenary situation) by writing some of their sentences in the correct form and by asking some CCQs. After that I will elicit the structure from the students to clarify how to form the sentence. Then i will explain how to make it into question form and how to make negative form

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise 9A on page 142 in the grammar bank in 4 minutes and then check their answers in pairs in 2 minutes after that we will check the answers with the whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about their dream jobs (what would they do if they could have any jobs that they want) and about if they win 1 million $ (what would you do if you won 1 million dollars?)
