Description

In this lesson, Students are being taught about past continuous through PPP method in the context of '' A day in the park ''. They are given a picture of happy children playing together in a park and are supposed to guess the right sentence about the picture .In the next step, they are given some handouts to practice what they have learnt. In the final stage, they are asked to tell an imaginary/real story about themselves using past continuous.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the lesson telling memories from my childhood using past tense sentences.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will be asked to say sentences about the picture provided for them using target language.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students are asked to fill in the blanks based on the listening file given to them.

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will draw a timeline on the board to clarify the use of target language which is to use past continuous to talk about progressive actions in the past. I will focus on the form by eliciting the structure from the students. The correct pronunciations of the ''ing'' will be covered ,too. Also, the correct form of some verbs such as swim will be covered as well.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will be asked to do the exercise number 4 on page 17 individually in 5 minutes. They will check the answers in pair and then we will check with whole class.

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Learners are asked to write sentences about themselves using the past continuous.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students are asked to tell a short story.
