To get students practice and produce the functional language of apology.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide students with a listening practice for specific information in context of apologising to the others
Procedure (37-45 minutes)
-The teacher will ask the students to list three reasons why they might need to apologise to someone. - Students will work in pairs. - Pairs will be exchanged to compare their lists with a new partner.
- The teacher will present 3 photos of Eddy who is talking to his mum , his producer and his agent. -The teacher will ask the students to predict the content of each picture. - Students will work in groups. - Students will check their answers in open class
The teacher will ask the students to work in pairs to listen for the recording to: - Check their predictions. - Number the photos according to the order of what they hear first. -The students will check their answers with the teacher.
-The students will listen to the recording . - The students will tick the true and false sentences. - The students will check their answers in pairs - The students will report back the answers to the teacher
-The students in pairs will match sentences in question 4a (1-16) to meanings (a - c) - The teacher will check their answers with the whole class. - The teacher will write examples of the sentences on the whiteboard which are: 1. I`m sorry that I didn`t get back to you sooner. 2. I`m sorry about this afternoon. 3. I`m sorry for borrowing money. - The teacher will provide the use and the form of each functional exponent by eliciting. - The students will be engaged in choral drilling where they would practice linking words.
- The students will work in pairs - The teacher will ask students to make a conversation using the functional language of apologising. - The students will practice it . - The teacher will monitor the students while they are writing. - The students will act their conversation in front of the class.
