To develop students listening skills, by the end of the lesson students will have improved their ability to listen to specific information through an interactional conversation on the topic of "What's Edinburgh like ?
Procedure (45 minutes)
I stick some pictures on the WB to elicit some feedback from the students. I ask: What can you see in these pictures ? I point to a picture and I ask: Can you describe the weather in this picture? I mime cold to help students name the correct adjective. I write cold on the WB and ask: What kind of word is it ? is it a verb? is it a noun? I receive feedback from students
I tell the students that they are going to put different types of adjectives that describe cities, people, weather and food in the correct column,then we do choral drilling to practice pronunciation usin the new vocabulary.
I am going to put a picture of a Scottish man on the board, wearing the traditional clothes to help students answer these questions : what is the capital city of Scotland? what is the language they speak? What is the currency? What's a kilt? What are bagpipes?
I tell the students that they are going to listen to Bruce McMullen and Marlen, talking to each other about food,weather, people in Edinburgh then ask them to listen carefully then, and check their answers.
Ask students to find a partner who has the answer for his or her question, then ask each pair to ask and answer one another.
Ask students to talk about the weather, food, people and cities in their country.
