Main Aims

To learn how to do reading sub-skills with a text in case the students need to look for general understanding (gist-reading), or try to find specific information (scan-reading) in the context of a professional daily routine.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To familiarise the students with some vocabulary used mostly in everyone`s daily life.
Procedure (25-45 minutes)
*T will show pictures and elicit students what people in these pictures do, *T teach them those who they do not know, * T shows the stress where the stress is in some of these words/phrases, * T asks three CCQs, a- Do people usually have breakfast in the afternoon? b- Do people usually have lunch in the morning ? c- Do people usually get up at night ?
T asks them to match these words/phrases from 1a, T checks with them by saying number and Ss say the right words/phrases.
2 (a) -- T project a photo of Same Dan, and ask about his work, Ss guess his job and that could be done in pairs, T asks CCQs after guessing Correctly, Do he drive a taxi ?
2 (b)-- T asks students to guess in pairs about these times, Ss choose the matching times with these actions. 2 (c)-- T asks them after guessing to read the interview ( scan reading), Ss check their answers and correct them.
T asks them to do true /false activity, and correct the false one, T sets time to do that, T asks some ICQs: Do we just tick the correct sentences? Do we just tick the wrong one and leave it ? Ss use special way of reading (intensive reading).
Reading sub-skill (1)--(scan reading), it is preferred to be used when looking for specific information when reading texts, Reading sub-skill (2)--(gist reading), it is recommended to be used when looking for a general understanding of texts, and ne need for every detail.
