To provide students practice in detailed listening of English films as well as speaking about those films.

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of movies.
Procedure (35-47 minutes)
1) genre: a particular type or category of literature or art Eliciting: Say "When you go to the cinema there are many kinds of movies right?" Yes. "Can anyone name some kinds of movies?" If no one can name different movies draw a sad and happy face on the board. "Does a drama make you feel sad or happy?" Write drama under sad face after answer. "How about a comedy? How does it make you feel?" Do the same. "Comedy and drama are both genres/kinds of art." Practice pronunciation of all words 2) heist: the act of stealing something from a bank or store 3) suitable: having the qualities that are right, needed, or appropriate for something 4) Quarrel: an angry argument or disagreement 5) Arrogant: having or showing the insulting attitude of people who believe that they are better, smarter, or more important than other people CCQ's: Does a comedy make you laugh? Yes. Does a drama make you happy? No, it makes me sad. Is a heist something illegal? Yes, it is stealing. When someone acts arrogant, are they being insulting? Yes. When two people are quarreling are they happy? No, they are arguing. If something is suitable is it nice? Yes.
- I will give an HO where students will have to match the movies I will play for them to their respected genre's - Instructions: "Watch and listen to the clips very carefully and on the HO answer what kind of genre each movie is." ICQ: "How will you listen to the movie?" Carefully "What will you be answering on the HO?" What the genre is. Feedback: Is Bonnie and Clyde a romance? Yes. Is Oceans Eleven a drama? No. Is The Pink Panther a comedy? Yes.
- Watch The Pink Panther clip halfway through a couple times so that students clearly understand the scene. - Tell students "Now that you've seen the clip a few times discuss with a partner about what will happen next. Give examples from what we've already seen in this clip to support what you think will happen. One person in the pair will jot notes of what you discuss." ICQ's "Will you discuss in pairs or in groups?" Pairs. "While you are discussing what will happen on of you will take notes. Will they be detailed notes?" No. FB: Write headings on WB titled "What will happen?" and "Why?" Ask students what they discussed and ask them to give examples from what they've already heard/seen. - Watch the rest of the clip. - Instructions "Now that you've seen the whole clip discuss with your partner whether or not you were correct. Also discuss why you think the creators chose to do what they did?" ICQ's - "Will you be writing notes?" No, just discuss FB: Just ask students what they discussed.
- List students off as 1's through 6's to regroup. Tell 1's to go somewhere, tell 2's to go somewhere etc. - Instructions: "With your new group discuss what will happen next in any of the films we've seen today. No notes need to be taken." ICQ's "Where do 1's go? Where do 2's go?..." "Will you be taking notes?" No, just discuss. FB: Ask the students what they discussed
