Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students are asked to find an adjective for themselves that start with the same letter of their name. They can use their phones to find adjectives. Teacher provides an example out of herself: Shy Şeyma

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students are asked to go to the page 34, Grammar part. Students are re-introduced the multi-word verbs. Teacher explains them with visual and reminding some from the previous listening. Teacher gets students to choose which is more similar.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher explains what intransitive and transitive is. Teacher asks students to match in b part.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher asks students to go to page 138 for Grammar Focus. Teacher explains multi-word verbs by using examples and visual imagery.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are to do the activities in pg 139. Firstly, they do the a part and all answer together. Then they do the b part by playing a Kahoot game. Every time an answer reveals, teacher explains and writes them on the board. After the activity is done, teacher asks students to take notes on the correspondent part in the book.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students get back to page 34 for speaking part. They are to think about their lives and what they made effort for. Sts are given a list of vocab to use in their speaking. They prepare and share their experiences with each other.
