Description

In this lesson, students will be engaged in vocabulary, particularly adjectives, on ability and achievement. They will have a chance to deal with both adjective and noun forms. They will work on proper usage of prepositions. They will do scanning and reading. Lastly, they will have a listening activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide adjectives for ability and achievement and have a chance to work on them such as noun forms and proper preposition usages.
  • To provide specific information listening practice using a voice track about learning experiences

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of preposition

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

It is a knowing each other activity. Students will think of an adjective that they think defines them the best, preferrably an adjective starting with the initials of their names.

Vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the target vocabularies and make it accessible

Students will read a set of statements and focus on the adjectives in bold. The class will discuss on what the adjectives may refer to and teacher checks their background knowledge.

Vocabulary Focus (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with the definition and examples of target adjectives through Powerpoint slides.

Students will have a chance to cover the adjectives and work on them, as well as having an opinion on nuances between commonly misconfused adjectives, after which they are expected to write noun forms of adjectives. Students will work on prepositions. Before moving on to the listening activity students will complete a short quiz on Quizziz

Pre-Listening (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with information about voice track and get them ready to work on it.

Students will look at the pictures and try to guess what the voice track may be about.

While Listening (8-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students will listen to the track once for each activity.

Post Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with a chance to produce

Students will speak about some questions projected onto the screen and they will exchange ideas.
