T asks some questions related to the informations and elicits answers. T shows the sign of "the olympic games" and asks "What does the sign on the board symbolize?" It symbolizes 5 continents. T hands out some lexis related to the sport names and verbs that can be used with them. Ss work in groups to match the sports with the verbs. They can add the list more lexis. T shows some pictures on the board and Ss come to the w/b to write down their answers. T drills pronunciation of written words both chorally and individually.
Ss listen to a short text twice and take notes while listening. They take notes and in pairs they find out which sport the speaker mentions about. T asks some questions about the steps of the sport and elicits answers in a whole class activity. Ss choose a sport and describe it in pairs. T monitors and helps where necessary.
T hands out questions related to the reading passage. Ss first read the the questions in part 1. Then, they skim the reading passage individually to find out the gist of the passage and the answers to the question. They check the answers in pairs. T elicits the answer in a whole class activity. S/he projects the answers on the w/b. Ss then do part 2,which requires a more detailed reading to answer the questions. Ss work in pairs to answer the questions. One person from each pair comes to the white board to highlight the answers.
Ss are given questions about the reading passage in part 3. They are asked to answer the questions first individually, then in groups. S/he gives the answers of the questions on a piece of paper. Ss check them together. T monitors and gives feedback where necessary.
T gives some questions with blanks on it. Ss fill in the blanks with a word from the text in groups. T elicits the answers from the students in a whole class activity. Ss then work in pairs to ask and answer the questions.
