Description

Ss will be introduced with one of the functional languages which is 'giving advice'.They'll practice different ways of giving advices and different verb forms which are used in different ways of giving advice. They'll also learn how to respond advice.

Main Aims

  • To present the functional language -giving advice- through text of two friend's conversation on whether or not to a accept a job offer. The lesson'll start with the Ss' controlled practice exercises of TL & will end semi controlled speaking practice through Ss' performances at role playing activity

Subsidiary Aims

  • To reinforce real life type of speaking based on samples of TL in the text. At the beginning the'll have a controlled speaking practice mostly supported by drilling exercises. Towards to the end , they'll be given more flexibility and at the end of the lesson they'll have the chance to practice semi controlled speaking by the means of role playing activity

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • to refresh their mind about the context

T tries to lead them in to text through eliciting some answers to her questions.

pre meanig focus (3-5 minutes) • To familiarize Ss different patterns of giving advice

T wants to get the Ss to be introduce the ways of giving advice. Ss listen to the tape again. T wants them to find advice sentences in text.

Focus on meaning (4-7 minutes) • To get to know the gist of TL

T explains Ss the different ways of giving advices according to the different situations. T teaches different kinds sample advice sentences listed from stronger to the weaker ones. Ss makes a controlled practice exercise through matching sentences.

Pre Focus on form (2-4 minutes) • To introduce the form of TL

T explains which different verb forms are used in different ways of giving advice. T tries to elicit the answers,emphasing the verbs during giving different advices. T tries to elicit the different verb forms from Ss through giving different advices. There is no use in reading all the messages. --------- V+ing Why don't give her a diamond ring? ------- V1(base form)

Focus on form (5-7 minutes) • To practice the form of TL

As a semi controlled practice, T draws 2 columns on the W/B for the two different verb forms.T want Ss to write down some phrases in to the respective columns. then Ss make drilling exercise
