Description

In this lesson students are going to learn how to use present continuous to emphasise that a situation is temporary or for a period of time around the present through PPP in the context of planning their summer vacation. they will have a conversation using present continuous in the same context at the end of the class.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will talk about the things that I am doing them now. I will use some of the Present Continuous verbs that my students have got familiar with before.

Exposure (6-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage I will ask my students to tell the class about the things that they are doing them now.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I will write some of the sentences that my students have made in the correct form on the board to draw their attention to the target language.

Clarification (12-17 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and asking some CCQs( Are the sentences about the past, present or future? present - Are the actions continuous? Yes. should I use ing with the verb? Yes. after all of these I will elicit the structure from the students to clarify how to form the sentences. non-action verbs will never being continuous.

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise 1C on page 126 in the grammar bank in 6 minutes.They will have 3 minutes to check their answers in pairs and Then we will check the answers with the whole class.

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about planning their summer vacation in groups of four and then tell the class.
