Description

In this lesson students are going to learn about possessive pronouns in the context of belongings through PPP. After this lesson students might better be able to use possessive pronouns to talk about the things they own. The lesson will be finished with a discussion task about students and their family belongings.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will talk about my sister and I belongings. I will use some possessive pronouns and possessive adjectives to make my ss understand the relation between these two.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage I ask my students to answer this question: Did you share anything with a friend or family member when you were a child?

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I will write some of the sentences that my students have made in the correct form on the board to draw their attention to the TL.

Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning by defining the word "possessive". I ask some CCQs: If I say "my car', what is the possessive word? my. Is car adj or noun? noun. I write one more example with possessive adj. After that I talk about possessive pronouns and remind them of "pronouns". I teach ss how to ask about possession by writing two examples. Finally, I divide the board in two parts and clarify the difference between possessive adj and possessive pronouns. I remind them how to pronounce their correctly.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise A on page 141 in the grammar bank in 1 minutes. They will have 1 minutes to check their answers in pairs and then we will check the answers with the whole class.

Free Practice (10-13 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about their own and their family belongings in groups of four.
