Procedure (29-39 minutes)
For this stage I have provided some pictures as realia which are related to the subject of our reading to show them and ask if they are aware of their names or anything about it. In this way in addition to pre-teaching the new words and engaging them, I can find out whether they already have information about the text or not (elicit).
To provide context for the target language through a text students are going to skim the text which is provided for them in their text book for 5 minutes and answer to some questions which are presented in the book . Then the teacher will check the answers and ask some question in order to make sure they have got the gist. (audio,10-15 MIN)
I have provided some handouts which include title for each paragraph of the text as well as synonyms for some new words and I am going to put them in group of 3 and ask the students to re-read the text and match the proper titles withe its paragraph and re-write the sentences which include new word with its given synonym. finally we will discuss correct answers at the class.
To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language Here the teacher is going to put more focus on stress marks of new words and clarify pronunciation and meaning of important vocabularies.
At the end of the class I am going to put them in pairs and ask them to read the activities and questions in the book related to the text and discuss about them. finally they are going to summarise the text and the teacher will randomly ask them to talk about one section of the text.
