Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Ask them about their favorite city and their reasons. ask them about different seasons.

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-Ask them to tell you the activities they can do in each season.

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-Pre teach new words: people-watch (v.)/ Broadway/ boxed meal/ take place/ sculpture(use pictures)/ fee/ just in case/ route. -Write new words on the board. -Ask them to repeat.

Highlighting (5-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-Ask them to gist read the text for about 4 minutes. -Ask ICQs. -Put pictures on the board and ask about their favorite season in Chicago.

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-Ask them to do part a in group of three. model it. -Ask ICQs. - Feedback: check together.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-Ask them to do part b in pair. -Feedback: check together.

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-Ask them to do part C. /-Role play: one student plays a foreigner's role who has come to Iran, his friend helps him./ -Play a game: Ask them to tell you the name of 10 cities(write them on the board), they start talking in pair. S1 talks about one of the cities and S2 must guess the name of that city. if S2 guesses right, he starts talking about another city and S1 must guess the name. if S2 guesses wrong, S1 talks about another city...
