Procedure (35-44 minutes)
I change a simple question of how do you feel today into an activity by talking about facebook. I tell them that facebook has a new feature which is how do you feel today. I tell them you have to draw your emotion on a virtual FB paper. Then they mingle and ask others "how do you feel?" and say why...
I tell the students that they are going to listen to a story and they have to draw the emotions they will hear about in the story in a column . Then They are going to hear the story again and write the emotion they hear. Then they are going to check their answers within their group and agree on the right answer. Then i give them the script and they check their answers. In this activity, most of the adjectives are extreme. So I ask them about similar adjectives to the ones they have. Wholeclass FB
I give students strips of paper and tell them they have to find someone who has a similar adjective in meaning. Then they stay together. Then I give them pictures and i tell them they have to find a picture for their adjective and keep it with them. Then I elicit the difference between the two; one is ordinary and the other is extreme. At this point, I put two categories for that and tell them they have to put the adjectives under the right category. For feedback, I give them the textbook handout.
For this stage, students do activity 1a in pairs on their handout. For fb, they listen...
I get students to notice the usage of those words with adjectives on their handouts. Sts work in pairs.
I divide the class into different pairs, I give them a paper with different adjectives on it. I tell them they have to think of a funny story to tell the class in a time limit.
