In this lesson ss are going to listen about nutritionist talking about different kinds of drinks.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed listening practice about different drinks in the context of nutrition.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of nutrition

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start the lesson by talking about my fav and hated drinks and ask students. Then i asked ss to answer this question: what drinks they have had recently? was is their fav or not?

Pre-Reading/Listening (6-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I teach new vocabs through PDF file. nutrients/ nutritionist/ fruit juice/ salary juice/ diet soda/sport water/low fat milk/ full fat milk/ to drink out of a bottle/pour a water in the glass students will be informed about the meaning of the following vocabularies used in the text by doing an exercise(fill up the blankets with an appropriate word) in pairs after they will checked their answers in pairs and then with the whole class.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students will listen to track and try to answer the following questions:

While-Reading/Listening #2 (13-18 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will be asked to read the questions on page 42 part b and then the audio file will be played again. Ss will write the drinks from the list in the correct place on the jug and tell the class what kinds of drinks should we never drink? They will have 2 minutes to check their answers in pairs then we will check the answers with the whole class. they will need to support their ideas if they come up with different answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (13-16 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students will be asked this question to talk to each other in groups of 3 or 4: do you agree with what the nutritionist says? how similar is her advice to what you drink everyday?
