To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about the Worst Hotel in Britain in the context of hotels

To provide fluency speaking practice in story telling in the context of hotel
Procedure (47-68 minutes)
Put up the picture of King Edward hotel. Ask students to look at the photos. Elicit any info sts can see (small family hotel, etc.). Explain that it's in Brighton, a popular seaside holiday resort in the south of England). Ask the class if they want to stay there? Why?
Get sts to brainstorm things that can go wrong while staying at a hotel or a friend or relative's house or what makes a hotel/house bad (e.g. dirty bathroom). WCFB. Ask sts to write some ideas on WB.
Tell the students that 2 people went to the hotel in the picture for the weekend. Give sts handouts. Sts listen to the recording 1.47 and tick ( / ) the problems that they had. (make a tick on WB on some of the ideas as an example). Check in paris and get WC FB
Give handouts for ex.3. Sts read ex. 3. Listen to the recording 1.47 again. Check in pairs. Give the tape script, sts listen one more time. Check in pairs and get WC FB.
Get the Sts to remember the story. Brainstrom keywords. Ask a strong student to give a keyword example. Then ask students to write them on WB. Sts tell the story in pair. Monitor students and give FB to pairs.
If there's time left, of if stronger sts finishes early, ask sts to talk about the worst hotel they stay in.
