  • To provide clarification and practice of weekend activities,TV shows, food, clothes

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At this stage of the lesson I'm going to tell the class two things that my friend and I have in common. Then ask the ss ''What do you and your best friend have in common?'' .In this way I can set the lesson context, engage them with the target of the lesson and activate their schemata.

Exposure (10-12 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students are going to look at the pictures in the book and guess what they are talking about? Then the teacher ask,''What do you think these people have in common?''.Finally the teacher play the recording and ask the students to listen carefully and take notes of what do these friends really have in common.I play the recording again and let the students review their answers. Then ask ,''What do the people in conversation 1 have in common?'' How about in conversation 2 and 3?.Divide them into pairs and tell them to take turns playing the rolls of speakers A and B. In this way I can get them ready for the grammar.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

At this stage I play the grammar recording and students listen and repeat it.Tell the students to look at the chart .Ask ''What is the pattern when you respond to an affirmative statement with am? How about negative statements ?{I+am+too;I'm+not+either.}Write the patterns on the board.Do the same for verbs other than be and can. Preview and do the task:Read the instructions and the example aloud.Have students write responses to the remaining statements.Check answers with the class:have pairs of students read a statement and its response aloud.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Here at first I read the four topics aloud. Then ask students to identify what they see in each picture. I read the instructions aloud and have the students work in small groups to do the task.Give groups 5 minutes to brainstorm as many words as they can. Then ask the students to report their lists and write them on the board. Have students complete the chart and then compare their completed charts in pairs.

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Sudents find out what they have in common with other classmates.Using their chart from Exercises ,students have 10 minutes to walk around the class and tell their classmates about themselves.Students can take notes and write the name of all the classmates who agree with their statments.Teacher can ask a few students to eport to the class.
