Clip pictures representing the predicative adjectives in ex1 on the wall , Ask students about what they can see in the pictures and how to descripe it. (S:The man is sleeping, T: what is the adjective for someone sleeping? He is.. S: He is asleep).
Hand students cards with the adjectives written on them. Ss have to match the adjectives they have to the right picture. Check the adjectives match the pictures Drill the pronunciation of the adjectives individually and chorally. Then give Ss Vocab ex 1 – Ss work in pairs/small groups to match with definitions. Check the answers with students. Play "Back to Board "game; A volunteer sits in a chair with their backs to the board, facing the class. I write one of the adjectives from ex1 and the class must give hints to the volunteer so thathe guesses the word.
Give Ss ex 2 – they work in pairs/small groups and decide which sentence is better. Feedback. Focus Ss on position of predicative adjectives. Contrast with other adjectives – using examples on the w/b elicit adjective position from the Ss
Prepare a couple of sentences about someone in your family using some adjectives – include 2 or 3 from Vocab ex1. Use this as an example to set up ex3(My grandfather is alive and lives in Dubai. He is usually asleep by 8 pm but awake by 5 in the morning. My grandfather and I are so alike, we have the same personalities and even the same name ). Ss describe someone in their family to their partners – try to use as many adjectives as possible – monitor – give FB.
Fill in gaps practice(pair work) ,similar to ex 1b wkbk but made in questions for Ss to answer them afterward(Personalisation). Ss interview each other. Monitor. Get FB of what Ss find out.
