Procedure (40-49 minutes)
I will show two images about "being optimistic and pessimistic" and clarify the meaning of two words.
The ss will listen to 5 people talking about what they are optimistic and pessimistic about. They will put a tick for each speaker in the given chart. And they will compare their answers after the listening part. And they will report back to the whole class.
I'll give the ss True or False statement paper, and they will listen to 5 speakers once more. True or False activity will help them find specific information about those 5 speakers. After finishing the activity,they will compare their answers in pairs and report back to the whole class.
The ss will write on the papers as a group what they are optimistic and pessimistic about. And they will swap their papers with another group and tell what their friends are optimistic and pessimistic about.
I will give the ss a worksheet to make them find out the optimistic and pessimistic sentences in pairs. And they will report back to the whole class.
I will ask the ss to find out the grammar rules from the listening task as a group. Then, they will do fill in the gaps exercise within their groups. I will ask them concept check questions. After that they will do the complete the dialogue part with their group friends. One ss from each group will make the dialogue with a ss from another group. And I will highlight the grammatical structures on the board.
The ss will think about the advantages of being optimist and disadvantages of being pessimist in groups and write on the board.
