In this lesson the students will learn about the future tense '' be going to ''through PPP to talk about future plans or actions or to predict the future

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of The future tense ''be going to'' in the context of Trip

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Trip

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the class by talking about how i am going to spend the next week on my trip

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask my students to talk about their plans and activities on their future trip

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write 4 of my students' sentences on the board in the correct '' be going to '' form

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the difference between the future tense '' will '' and the future tense '' be going to '' and also the meaning of '' be going to '' by drawing a timeline on the board and mentioning that TL is used to talk about activities and plans predictable events . I will introduce the structure of '' be going to '' as '' subject + be + going + to + base form of the main verb and mentioning that '' be '' always is used in present tense form

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask my students to do exercise a on page 143 in 5 minutes individually, they will check their answers in pair in 2 minutes and then we will check the answers with the whole class .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students are going to do exercise be on page 107 in 5 minutes individually then i am going to check their sentences and give them feedback.

Free Practice (18-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The students are going to talk about their most memorable trip in 10-15 minutes in small group . they will be monitored and the feedback will be given to the whole class at the end
