In this lesson the students are going to learn about using past simple to talk about completed actions in the past through PPP in the context of holiday.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the class by talking about the way I spent the weekend.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask my students to talk about the way they spent their weekend.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write 3 of my students' sentences on the board in the correct past simple form.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning of the tense y drawing a timeline on the board and mentioning that the TL is used to talk about completed actions in the past. I will elicit the structure from the students and the pronunciation of the verbs like "read" and "said" will be covered in this stage.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are going to do exercise a on page 140 in 4 minutes individually. They will check their answers in pairs in 2 minutes and then we will check the answers with the whole class.

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The students are going to talk about their best holiday ever in 8 to 10 minutes in groups of 3. They will be monitored and the feedback will be given to the class at the end.
