Procedure (38-48 minutes)
Use PPT-1 to show Ss eight pictures of the natural events. Encourage Ss to discuss in open class by describing the pictures in 2 minutes and elicit today's topic - the power of nature. Monitor aside.
Use PPT-2 to match the pictures with the vocabulary of these natural events. Model and drill pronunciation if necessary.
Ss read the questions of Listening 2, then listen to the recording 1.36 and note down some key words at the same time. Peer checking W/C FB
Ss read the questions of Listening 3. Give them a minute to discuss with their partners before playing the recording 1.36 again. Stop after Fran's story and let Ss compare their answers. Then do the same with Antonio's story. (Peer checking) FB - W/C check the answers.
Focus on meaning. Illustrate the correlation between three forms with the timeline(PPT). Ss match the examples from the stories with their uses (HO2). Peer checking. Group Ss into new A/B pairs. Each pair reads different stories and then peer check after finishing their own tasks. Monitor and help if necessary. FB - W/C check answers.
