To give the students a clear clarification of the Present Perfect Tense with the use of time expressions

To give the students listening practice in a recap of the Past Simple Tense before extending onto the Present Perfect Tense
Procedure (34-45 minutes)
-Do a quick recap of their last lesson. Also, ask them if they remember who Aminata, Margot and Charlie were.
-Give the Ss the HO and ask them to look at the pictures. -In pairs ask them to 'predict' what they think their 'achievements' might be. -Now listen to to listening Ex.1.25 and see if their predictions were correct F/B -Do Ex.2 -Repeat listening Ex1.25 -Peer Check -F/B
-Do a model sentence of the Past Simple Tense. ie I lost weight. Ask them if it is visible, can they see it now. Do they know when it happened. Give a clear explanation of Past Simple vs Present Perfect using example model sentences. -Show a timeline to explain the difference between Simple Past vs Present Perfect -Elicit the time expressions always, never, just and already. -Do model sentences with the Ss. -Elicit for and since. -Do model sentences with the Ss.
-Pair the Ss and give them HO Ex.4-5 -Ask them to look at Ex.4 -Explain that they should look at the highlighted parts of the sentences and connect to A or B -Ask them to check with their partners -Peer check -F/B
-Write on the board 'recently'. Give a model sentence and 'elicit'. -Show HO Ex. 6, explain that they are going to mingle with each other and that they are going find someone in the class who has....... - Feedback
