In this lesson the students are going to learn some new vocabularies about health and body. They will focus on comprehending the text.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about Staying healthy in the context of Food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide the clarification of organs and drinks in the context of Good and bad things about drinks

Procedure

Warmer/lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students

The teacher starts talking about her favorite drink. She wants students to talk about their eating habits and tell the class what do they drink everyday.

Pre-reading/listening (7-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage the teacher is going to teach the students some key vocabularies of the text using some pictures to help them learn better. The students are going to match some pictures with the paragraphs that talk about different things related to drinks. Then they are going to check their answers in groups and at the end with the whole class.

While reading/listening 1# (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging scan and specific information reading/listening task

The students are going to answer "Where does caffeine affect the body?" They are given about 2 minutes to read the second paragraph and share their answers with the class.

While reading/listening 2# (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference |eading/listening tasks

The Students are going to read the text deeper and answer some True or False questions related to the text. They will check their answers in pairs and then with the whole class.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are going to be divided into groups and discuss about the advantages and the disadvantages of their favorite drink and how do they think it affects their body
