Procedure (39-55 minutes)
The teacher puts the picture of the strike (without a heading) on the WB and asks the students what they think is happening why there's a lot of people on one part of the picture and nobody on the other part. Will try to elicit the word "strike". If it's impossible explain it. add "London" to the picture and try to elicit the word "tube" explain that metro is used for underground systems in non-engish speaking countries. (change the name of the city to Istabnul, ask waht the place is called now) Ask the students to imagine that there's a transport strike in Istanbul today, and tell their partners how they can get home. No FB for this stage
The students will be given a HO and asked to fill it in after listening to the audio. The students will be asked to work individually and check with their partners when they are done. The students will be asked to come up to the WB to write their answers.
The teacher puts the sentence "Today he is driving to work" And asks the student to indicate subject, auxiliary and the main verb. The teacher asks the students to work on their own and come up with 2 questions one with the question word and one without and then check with their partner. The correct sentences will be put on the WB
The students will be given a HO and asked to complete the rules with PS (for the Present Simple) or PC (for the present Continious) The students will be asked to peer-check when they done and given and answer key for the WC FB.
The students will be given a HO and asked to fill in the gaps using the verbs in the correct form and to make questions with or without question words. They will be asked to peer-check when they done The students will be asked to justify their answers.
The students will be asked to work in pairs and take turns in asking and answering questions from the previous excercise.
I 1: on a piece of paper write names of 4 people in your family and 4 names of your friends. I2. Swap the papers with the partner. I3 Ask about the people. Who is it? What is he doing now, do you think? What does he do in his free time? The students will be asked to choose a person with the most interesting day This activity has long and complecated instructions so I'll model it.
