Tell the sts that I am going to tell them a true story about myself. Tell the story to elicit "used to". Highlight it on the WB and drill it.
Focus students attention on the photos and ask when they think the old photo was taken (1940s or 1950s) and establish that Selfridges is a famous department store in London. Show the student another picture of a Turkish department store. Ask"What kind of stuff we might find in there" To elicit skincare products (moisturiser, special cleansing liquid, bath oils, etc.)
Tell the students that they are going to listen to an interview with Sam Bennett about a radio programme called Real Men Shop. Give students a minute to take a look at the topics. Ask the students to listen and put the topics in order. Peer check then give them the answer key.
Ask the students to listen again and fill in the gaps. Peer check then WC feedback.
Ask students to work in pairs and to look at sentences 2-4 in 1b) and choose the correct words in the rules. WC feedback on the WB. Ask CQs to make sure they have understood the form. Write an example on the WB to elicit how to use the negative of used to.
Ask students to write three things they used to do in the past three years, and one thing they didn't use to do but they do now. Ask sts to share their answer in pairs. Share interesting ideas with the WC.
