Refer back to the reviews Ss looked at earlier. In groups of three or four Ss discuss the kind of language they used to describe and recommend the book. Ss report back to the class
Individually, students skim through the second review and find the clauses that have 'which'. Organise pairs in the classroom Explain to students that they need to match the beginning and end of the sentences Hand out the envelopes with matching activity Students complete the task in pairs Ask if the beginning of the sentence can stand alone. Then do the same for the second part of the sentence 'relative clause' sentence. Elicit the name of this type of clause. Ask students to classify the sentences in the table handout. Elicit the information that the relative clause carries. Ss individually try writing sentences on their own using the scaffold from the 'Writing Sentences' worksheet. Peer check Feed back. Check and correct any errors.
Ss write four sentences recommending to a book that they discussed earlier in the lesson and share it with their partner. Ss report to the class about their partener's recommendations.
Ss think about their favourite book and write a book review using the vocabulary and grammar that they've been exposed to. Use CCQs to make sure they write positivit and negative to say about the book. Ss are given a time limit to complete the task.
Students share their reviews by posing them around the room. If time permits go over Ss errors.
